General Description
Eucalyptus is a beautiful, tall, evergreen tree, up to 90 meters high. The young trees have bluish-green oval leaves while the mature trees develop long, narrow, yellowish leaves, creamy flowers and smooth, pale, grey bark often covered in a white powder.


Distribution
Eucalyptus is native to Tasmania and Australia. Mainly cultivated in Spain and Portugal, also Brazil, California, Russia and China. Very little of this oil comes from its native countries.


Herbal & Folk tradition
Eucalyptus is a traditional household remedy in Australia, the leaves and oil are especially used for respiratory ailments such as bronchitis and croup. The dried leaves are smoked like tobacco for asthma.


Characteristics
Eucalyptus is a colorless liquid (yellow on ageing). Blends well with thyme, rosemary, lavender, marjoram, pine, cedarwood and lemon.

Eucalyptus - increases concentration, debility, stimulant, antiseptic, antiviral, diuretic, lowers blood sugar, regenerative, disinfects the air, deodorant, respiratory problems, lice, insect bites, burns, blisters, wounds, muscular aches, chickenpox among others.


Safety data
Eucalyptus is non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing.
High in 1,8-cineole, which can cause breathing problems in young children. Do not apply near the face of infants and children under ten (10) years of age.
